Dave Godin embodied that spirit and inspired many during his time at McCabe. Anyone who ever had the opportunity to work with Dave has a great story to tell. That’s what happens when you are a mentor, leader and friend to all.
"To say the least, my first impression of Dave was a whirlwind of emotions. That experience told me a few things about Mr. Godin. He was intimidating; a straight shooter; seemed like he was a jack of all trades; and that I should tiptoe around him. It wasn’t until a few weeks into my time at McCabe that I realized how funny, yet blunt Dave could be. We formed a pretty cool relationship."
Dave passed away in 2018 from a courageous battle with ALS. His loss was felt by everyone at McCabe. When Dave’s wife, Sue, set out to raise $1,000,000 for ALS we knew we wanted to help in her efforts. We renamed our annual golf tournament to the Dave Godin Memorial Golf Tournament and raised funds for Godin’s Gang each year until Sue achieved her goal. This was especially fitting given that Dave founded this tournament that gave us an incredible team building opportunity, which continued even after he was gone.

After Dave’s retirement, he was recognized with the first McCabe Lifetime Achievement Award. This is an honour reserved for those who have a lasting impact on McCabe and it’s team.
